Day of the Dead

Day of the Dead is a Mexican holiday that is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. The holiday is a time to remember and honor deceased loved ones.

On Day of the Dead, families build altars in their homes and decorate them with photos, flowers, and candles. They also prepare food and drinks for their deceased loved ones.

The Malecón is Puerto Vallarta's iconic waterfront promenade, and it's also a great place to experience Day of the Dead. The altars are decorated with candles, flowers, food, and other offerings. Visitors can stop by to pay their respects and learn more about this important Mexican tradition. In 2022 the Malecón hosted a Catrinas exhibition and contest for the record guinness of the tallest Catrina in the world, winning the record with a beautiful and spectacular Catrina of 22.6 metres.
